The Authorised Officer is responsible through the Team Leader – Environmental Health for the delivery of the Environmental Health service to the Council and the residents of Shetland.
Environmental Health has a wide remit covering environmental protection, food safety, health and safety, housing and community, public health, animal health & welfare, dog control and licensing. This will involve working within a team to support each other to meet the requirements of the service.
The post holder will be required to carry out a range of technical and specialist regulatory and advice duties within the remit of Environmental Health. The role will involve undertaking visits to a wide range of premises, supporting the delivery of a range of programmes to assess compliance, provide advice and decide on appropriate action to secure compliance.
This vacancy is being advertised as a Career Graded post, which is a career development opportunity. This means that the Council is committed to supporting the successful candidate to obtain the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become fully competent in the role. - We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland
- You must have a Full UK Driving Licence and the ability to travel throughout Shetland at short notice where public transport is limited
