We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join the Global data Science team based in Glasgow. This role will work within a team of expert data scientists and analysts within our Commercial Team, collaborating with our business partners to deliver market-leading capabilities.
What you’ll do:
Develop and enhance datasets to support analytical insight delivery.
Proactively identify hidden insights through data discovery activities.
Collaborate effectively with data science team members for knowledge sharing.
Communicate findings and identify new opportunities for data science to drive value.
Document data and maintain best-practice standards in coding, reporting, and communication.
Research, test, and implement the latest data science tools and techniques.
You’ll have the following skills and experience:
Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a similarly quantitative field.
Excellent numeric and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for data, data science, and AI.
Strong technical capabilities including coding proficiency (e.g Python, PySpark, SQL or R)
Experience in creating and using data science applications using suitable traditional modelling techniques such as regression, statistical forecasting, process control, decision trees
Experience with Generative AI, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Open-Source models like those on HuggingFace (e.g., Llama) and prompt engineering with OpenAI models is desirable
Ability to collaborate effectively with the team and communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work under pressure, prioritize workload, and continuously improve and innovate.
