Duration: Fixed Term, Full Time Part Time

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment

job purpose/about the role

To deliver a Statutory Social Work Service by working as part of a team. Guidance and supervision will be provided to create an environment where each service user is enabled to maintain and develop their potential and to contribute to the service users’ social, physical and mental wellbeing and promote active citizenship in a holistic way.

We are looking for staff who can work flexibly in various services across Aberdeen City in full time and part time roles - PLEASE NOTE WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR RELIEF STAFF TO APPLY TO THIS ADVERTISEMENT AS THERE IS SEPARATE RECRUITMENT TAKING PLACE FOR RELIEF STAFF!!

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • SVQ level III in Social Care or willingness to achieve according to the requirements of the SSSC
  • Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme Record (PVG) or willing to become registered

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

  • Good practice; recognising the support needs of people with learning disabilities; specifically promoting dignity, respect and promotion of independent living and exhibit unconditional positive regard
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with service users’, staff, carers and internal/external professionals to achieve improved outcomes for service users
  • Ability to provide guidance and support
  • Attention to detail; specifically around the administration of service users’ medication, financial responsibilities, including the ability to produce high quality written reports
  • The ability to operate as a member of a team and take responsibility for the environment and the safety of service users in the absence of the senior members of staff
  • The ability to attend and participate in staff meetings, supervision, performance review and development and to participate in developing team plans
  • The ability to work in partnership with families
  • Ability to meet deadlines
