About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key Scottish sites such as but not limited to; Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Working Pattern: 13 Month Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available

SSE Renewables Onshore Origination, Land and Estates team are crucial to our success in meeting our net zero transition targets. We have very ambitious goals, and to ensure we achieve these, we are looking for a talented, passionate and innovative Land Manager to join the team to provide maternity cover for a period of 13 months. 

You will be directly involved in the growth of our UK portfolios, primarily for Onshore Wind, Power to X , Battery Energy Storage and Solar projects in Scotland.

Some of your main accountabilities as Land Manager will include;

- Providing a variety of land services in key areas such as commercial and contract negotiations, dispute resolution, consultant management, acquisition, joint ventures, land management and due diligence.

- Developing and maintaining a strong network of contacts consisting of landowners, land agents, solicitors, consultants, local authorities, consultees, industry bodies and communities.

- Managing the timely delivery of all land agreements and land rights required for projects throughout the development and construction process. 

- Ensuring the transparency of deliverables and risks with internal stakeholders.

- Providing advice across multiple business areas on organic growth, repowering, life extension, hybridisation and co-location.

What do I need?

You're not required to have a background in renewables (although this would be desirable) to be considered for this role, however a relevant understanding of and interest in the renewables landscape in the UK is desirable. We welcome applications from those with transferable skills in some or all of the following; 

- Prior experience of land management across both rural and commercial sectors.

- Good working knowledge of relevant Landlord and Tenant legislation.

- Experience in the negotiation of leases, options, land acquisition and wayleaves.

- Previous planning and development experience of projects involving multiple land ownerships. Along with the ability to identify land and planning related risks and develop proposals to mitigate them to secure deliverable projects.

- Passion and drive to work on your own initiative, and also deliver within a team environment.
