Job Title: TECHNICAL BUYER

12 month fixed-term contract 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for technical goods and services.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
  • Manage supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance.
  • Ensure all purchases meet the company's quality and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand technical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize cost and efficiency.
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies with suppliers and deliveries.
  • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and products.
  • Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage stock replenishment.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure the timely delivery of goods.
  • Evaluate and improve purchasing processes and procedures.

 

Essential qualifications & skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree in procurement and supply chain management, Engineering, or a related
  • discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CPP
  • (Certified Purchasing Professional) are added advantage.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the oil and gas sector, including the technical materials and
  • equipment utilized.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • Strong analytical abilities to assess supplier performance, costs, and market trends.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Competence in managing budgets and the financial aspects of procurement.
  • Understanding of cost management and financial analysis principles.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills are needed to manage multiple procurement activities
  • concurrently.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with the suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Proficiency in analyzing market trends, costs and supplier performance.
  • Capability to develop and implement strategic sourcing plans.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency in equipment and tools.
  • Strong teamwork skills to work closely with various internal stakeholders
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks related to procurement activities and supply chain operations.
