Highland Health & Social Care Partnership delivers the full range of adult health and social care services in the largest and most sparsely populated part of Scotland. The remote and rural environment can present challenges in terms of transport and communications but it also offers some of the most beautiful scenery and exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities. The challenge of delivering healthcare across remote and rural communities provides the opportunity for new and innovative thinking in meeting those challenges.
Following a re-structure of medical leadership an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced GP to join the Primary Care Leadership team. The sessional requirement for the post will be 4 sessions (16 hours) per week. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the Community Urgent Care portfolio of work.
This post would suit an aspiring GP seeking to develop a portfolio career and to influence the development of community urgent care services across North Highland. Further specific details can be found in the appendix.
There will be the opportunity to help shape and rebalance our Primary and Secondary Care service provision to meet the need of the person, as close to home as possible.
In keeping with the strategic aspirations of NHS Highland, strong, innovative and dynamic leadership will be required to redesign and revitalise services across the Interface to:
- Reduce variation in accessing urgent care services.
- Design data driven services which drive improvement and quality.
- Deliver open and transparent reporting of performance, quality, patient safety (QPS)
- Deliver a sustainable Out of Hours (OOH) service
- Promote integrated and collaborative ways of working that has the patient at the centre.
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary team working between NHS Highland and other partner agencies i.e. Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS), NHS 24, Community Pharmacy, Optometry and Dentistry
- Create and support opportunities for innovation e.g. use of technology.
- Influence the digital strategy to improve information sharing
- Engage with Integrated Service Planning as part of whole system workforce planning
- Understand and integrate the impact of climate change to improve outcomes for patients.
