We are seeking a Freshwater Husbandry Personnel to assist with the growing of our trout at Kames Hatchery (HQ) and the surrounding hill lochs, as part of a skilled and enterprising freshwater team.
We are seeking a Freshwater Husbandry Personnel to assist with the operations at our Steelhead Trout Smolt Facility at Kames Hatchery and Hill Lochs, which is an integral part of the supply to our sea-site production farms. The role will also include work on our freshwater hill lochs and assisting the broodstock team during spawning periods. Jobs may include vaccinating and grading fish, helping with the spawning such as assessing maturation, fertilising, reproductive gland extraction, and use of cryopreserved milt, as well as feeding the fish and general site maintenance.
Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, with an on-call and weekend duty rota.
In return, Kames offers a competitive package, dependent on experience, and a salary of £26,175 up to £29,175 inclusive of rota duties.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience in this area, but we will offer full training to the right person. They will have proven qualities in teamwork, self-motivation, have a high level of Health & Safety Awareness and a full driving license is essential. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual who has a passion for farming and a career in aquaculture.
