We are seeking a registered nurse with a keen interest in clinical trials for the opportunity to work with the Cancer Clinical Trials Team in NHS Highland. This replacement role will deliver a portfolio of locally recruiting multi-centre cancer clinical trials. The post is based in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness – although it expected that some travel will be involved.
As a Clinical Research Nurse you will be involved in all aspects of supporting cancer clinical research. This includes acting as an information resource for potential or participating trial patients, providing nursing support and planning the care pathway for participants, collecting required data and ensuring adherence to the trial protocol. You will be supported in this role by an experienced team of research nurses and data managers. There will be the opportunity to participate in improving and expanding the clinical role of the research nurse as part of the continuing advancements in the support of clinical research participants.
You will be responsible for raising awareness of clinical research and trials amongst secondary breast cancer patients and their families by delivering online and in person presentations. You will also interrogate relevant trials databases to ensure access to the most up to date information for available trials.
The role will require an individual with good inter-personal and communication skills, an understanding of the research process including ICH/GCP guidelines and excellent IT skills. You should also be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to an ever-changing working environment.
You will require at least 5 years post registration experience, and would be preferred to have experience of cancer nursing and / or clinical research nursing however, full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
