CONSULTANT GENERAL PHYSICIAN WITH AN INTEREST IN ENDOCRINOLOGY AND DIABETES (7 PAS)

Applications are invited by NHS Grampian for a 7 PA post in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine.
The post will be based in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (The JJR Macleod Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism in the David Anderson Building and in Ward 105 of the Emergency Care Centre). There will also be a requirement to attend speciality clinics in Dr Gray’s Hospital (Elgin), Fraserburgh Hospital or Stonehaven at times.
The successful appointee will be part of a team of 14 Consultants (9 WTE) in a 7 session post comprising clinical duties in General Adult Diabetes and Endocrinology (3 PAs), and General Medical (2.5 PAs). With out of hours on call duties for both General Medicine and Diabetes and Endocrinology on an approximately 1 week in 10 basis.
The remaining 1.5 programmed activities (SPA) will allow the post holder to engage in continuing personal professional development, appraisal and revalidation, to contribute to research and audit activities, and to make specified contributions to undergraduate teaching, postgraduate training and service development. Specific contributions will be agreed in a detailed job plan.
It is likely that the successful candidate will be accorded Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer status within the University of Aberdeen.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview. Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made.
