Transport Controller - (Job ID: 1685)

As our candidate of choice, you will be an energised, forward-thinking individual, with the ability to maintain strong lines of communication and pro-actively problem solve.  Commercially aware with experience operating in a fast-paced, customer facing environment, you will ensure our fleet of vehicles are efficiently routed and utilised to their full capacity whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.  Duties include:

•Utilising the Transport Management System (TMS) to ensure the efficient collection and delivery of cargo, presenting accurately for invoicing purposes in line with individual customer requirements.

•Planning Transport activity, disseminating information to the Transport and Distribution Team.

•Ensuring collection and delivery information communicated to/from Drivers through the TMS Phone App is fully understand, actioned and closed out within the TMS.

•Co-ordinating the use of special type vehicles (e.g. extending trailers, step frames, low loaders).

•Planning and communicating the movement of abnormal loads in line with legislation.

•Reviewing vehicle tracking system to reduce inefficiencies and improve performance.

•Actively analysing service to identify areas where third party costs can be reduced.

•Assist in ensuring vehicles and trailers are at relevant service providers in line with legislative requirements for MOT and inspection. 

•Participating in the continuous improvement of customer service, processes and cost effectiveness including responding to enquires in a prompt manner.

•Continuously promoting a pro-active HSEQ culture, ensuring participation and compliance.

•Ensuring performance and compliance to all laws, regulations and industry standards/codes.

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours) 

•Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and in writing.

•Excellent planning skills and experience in financial planning/tracking.

•The ability to work stand-alone while a positive contributor to the wider team.

•Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.

•Computer literate across the Microsoft suite, particularly Excel. 

Desirable Qualifications/Competencies

•Previous experience in a very fast-moving transport environment, controlling multiple vehicles with ever changing priorities.
