Salary: £41,583 - £48,296 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Site Based Role
What is the Role?
SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a Site Supervisor (preferably electrical background), experienced in the principles of construction and preferably with experience of working on transmission substations. This role will be based at Crossaig (Argyll) Scotland, where we are constructing a new 275kV Crossaig North substation. The project is part of SSEN Transmission's Argyll Reinforcement Scheme and is key to our plans to deliver a Network for Net Zero.
The role requires a full current driving licence due to the requirement to travel to and be on site.
The key duties & responsibilities will be:
- Representing the SSEN Transmission business on-site and being the key and potentially sole site-based point of contact.
- Monitoring and recording of key deliverables including earthworks, civils construction, building construction, air-insulated switchgear installation, transformer installation, earthing, building supplies, gas-insulated switchgear and busbar installation and commissioning activities.
- Ensuring the project is executed in accordance with relevant requirements, particularly relating to statutory and legal obligations, health and safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, quality & technical compliance, personnel and industrial relations.
- Working closely with the appointed contractor(s) and the operations team to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Acting as a leader on site and champion for a positive safety culture. Ensuring site activities comply with planning consents and SHE legislation, and routine reports and KPIs are submitted to the Project Manager.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Experience in site supervision within construction or utilities, ideally within a High Voltage electricity construction environment. Experience in construction access works would also be beneficial.
- An understanding of project planning and in particular tracking progress against agreed plans, along with a working knowledge of quality requirements, monitoring inspection and test plans.
- Working knowledge of safety and CDM regulations within a construction or engineering industry.
- Good written and oral communication skills, including the capability of representing the project internally and externally.
- Computer literate or familiarity with computer systems and ideally with the ability to use common software such as Microsoft Office packages.
