Location: Aberdeen

The role will operate within Seletar, part of the ASCO Group.  Seletar deliver professional ships agency services to the oil and gas, renewables and general cargo industries.  This is an exciting opportunity for a strongly motivated individual to join as Ships Agent, allowing you to develop an established career path within the marine industry and wider ASCO Group.  This role is also open to those wishing to train as Ships Agent.

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate the energy, commitment and motivation to learn and perform all aspects of this varied and hands-on role, along with the communication skills to fully integrate with our customers and colleagues.  You will share our passion for achieving the highest standards of safety, operational performance and service delivery.  Ideally you will have experience in a customer facing role.

Based out of Aberdeen, the role will also be required to travel to other ports to conduct vessel visits and as such mobility is essential.  To succeed in this role, you will be required to adapt to changing shipping patterns and priorities, learn to expect the unexpected, pro-actively problem solve and maintain strong lines of communication, both internally and externally.  Key responsibilities include;

•Build effective working relationships with Clients, ensuring that they always receive the highest quality of service delivery and support.

•Action operational requests from Vessels/Vessel Owners/Vessel Charterer. 

•Sourcing/Procurement of equipment and supplies.

•Inputting, retrieving and reporting of data using computerised systems, ensuring accuracy and appropriate presentation style.

•Maintain up to date knowledge of Risk Assessments/Method Statements and undertake review of same ensuring compliance with legislation/company rules.

•Work closely with ASCO Safety Advisors during any incident investigation or safety initiative to effect timeous and positive results.

•Driving duties which may include the company minibuses or flatbed trucks, to safely transport ships personnel/belongings and equipment. 

Minimum Qualifications

•Full clean driving license

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours) 

•Customer focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

•The ability to build and maintain effective relationships, both internal and external.

•Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, flexible and can adapt to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.

•Solutions based with strong planning, organising and numeric skills, and an excellent attention to detail.

•Ability to work stand-alone, demonstrating initiative and ownership, while a positive contributor to the wider team.

•Motivated to achieve the highest standards of performance and customer support, maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

•Computer literate with well-developed IT skills across the Microsoft suite.  MS AX would be advantageous.

Desirable Qualifications/Competencies

•Ships Agency experience, ideally in the Marine and Supply Chain industries.

•Dangerous Goods by Sea. Forklift Cert
