Our Team:
The Cloud team is on the journey to create the next generation technical platform for Lloyds Banking Group that will be at the core of one of the UK's biggest financial service transformations. We're looking for a motivated individual to work within the Cloud Security Lab as an Engineer.
The role will involve:
- Ensuring the appropriate security controls are in place, focusing on keeping bank services safe while simultaneously supporting programme timescales and business outcomes.
- Identifying security requirements, designs, risks and defining controls to mitigate these risks and guiding other areas of technical programmes to embed security in the best manner for the Bank.
- Working across the Group’s strategic cloud platforms to realise the next generation of services that form the Bank’s vision for 2024 and beyond.
Our remit includes delivering new platforms, Security Products and Services whilst continually improving our existing ones. Working in the Cloud Security Lab aligned to one or more Feature Teams where responsibilities will include Develop, Build and Operational tasks.
Examples of tasks will include product / control design and governance, investigations and assessments, terraform module creation and enhancements for cloud resource delivery and consumption, supporting roadmap planning for upcoming features against consumer use-cases, defect management and incident support, platform maturity and automation.
The role will have end-to-end accountabilities including: ()
- Building knowledge and experience of operating in Cloud environments and Engineering teams
- Working with a Lead Engineer to identify a domain area to focus development and upskilling in to: building Security proven experience in addition to skills crucial for an engineering role
- Supporting SMEs with fulfilling core processes and tasks within a Product Team: fulfilling run tasks, delivering enhancements to existing capabilities / processes
- Working with mentor to develop and enhance onboarding and upskilling processes for new joiners to the team
- Self-managing and proactive attitude and approach to tasks assigned
- Identifying skills gaps and development needs > defining and driving a development plan to become an established Cloud Security Engineer!
The role will require you to be hands-on, to collaborate with peers to engineer new or enhance infrastructure level capabilities

About this opportunity
Day to Day, you'll:
- Understanding Bank Security policies and standards applicable to Cloud environments
- PoCs of new products / use-cases
- Operational documentation for support and consumption of products
- Onboarding and upskilling paths for Feature Team products, tasks and processes
- Shadowing team members when fulfilling operational and core tasks completed by a Feature Team
- Building technical abilities through shadowing, supporting then doing engineering tasks in the team
- Contributing to and helping create an inclusive and collaborative environment working with other platform teams to grow develop and deliver the bank’s strategic outcome of becoming the largest UK Fintech
What you'll need:
- Passionate about technology - wanting to commit to building abilities to advance a career in Cloud Engineering and Cyber Security
- Readiness to take on challenges and willingness to learn - identifying areas requiring support to fulfil tasks, confidence to engage experienced team members to help with upskilling when needed
- Growth / resilient attitude: ability to take on challenges and develop an approach to overcome knowledge gaps / areas requiring upskilling
- Able to be work with other engineers, understand tasks, manage stakeholders with progress updates / support needed as tasks are delivered
- Awareness of the objectives of the Bank with its cloud vision, appreciation of the scope, pressures and demands of the role, dedication to put in the required effort to upskill to become a skilled and effective engineer in the team.
You'll:
- Have Awareness of key DevOps concepts, tools and languages: Source Control (GitHub), IDE / Interactive Development Environments (IDE), Command Line Interface (CLI); Terraform, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub, CI/CD, IaC, PaaS
- Awareness of Cloud Environments
- Cloud and/or Security certifications
- Worked within a Technical / Engineering team
