  • shaping the future ways of working through introducing to the business new technology and new ways of working, including e.g. digital, SBO, and real-time, data-driven, end-to-end optimization and risk management, but also global programmes like Human Performance Based Safety Philosophy

  • providing performance feedback driving disciplined execution to deliver reliable, predictable results

  • helping the businesses build their improvement plans and provide support to execute them

  • sustaining performance through strong core capabilities (internal, including SBO & contingent) through building expertise and a company-wide consistent approach

Job Purpose:

The Tech. Specialist – CCR Naphtha Reforming provides technical support to Shell assets in the area of Light Ends (Cat Reforming). In addition to technical support to sites, upkeep of Monitoring tools and knowledge upkeep form a significant part of the workload. The role involves being an integral part of the site team and monitor day to day, short term, medium term and long term Threats and opportunity identification and resolution to improve margin. Support include trouble shooting technical issues at sites, unit performance monitoring, support to regeneration and turnaround activities, cycle length projections, support to catalyst selection and testing, etc. Incumbent shall be part of the TAO Process Engineering in Production Optimization GM-Ship within P&T. Incumbent shall report to Tech. Ops Manager – Process Engineering.

Accountabilities:

Technical and operation support to Shell sites in CCR Naphtha Reforming

  • Evaluation of regular detailed operating summaries to rigorously track and improve unit performance

  • Troubleshooting and advice on mitigation and recovery from operational upsets

  • Advice on, and comparative evaluation of, future operating strategies

  • Providing training in process technology and modelling

  • Support to refineries for complex refining process technology issues

MOCs

  • Work on minor to medium scale MOCs to bring out technical changes to the unit

Catalysts & Adsorbent Evaluation

  • Maintain knowledge of new catalyst developments

  • Assess potential value of new industry developments for Shell-advised sites

Custodian of process engineering tools in Cat Reforming, responsible for developing and upkeep of process engineering tools

  • Maintain process engineering tools in a reliable and accessible state

  • Adapt tools to changing demands

  • Evaluate and implement requests for changes

Requirements:

  • Relevant Educational background (e.g., Chemical Engineering)

  • The position requires a person with minimum ~ 8 years of manufacturing/technology experience (in CCR Naphtha Reforming) and minimum 4 years of experience in Cat Reforming.

  • Past experience in developing, managing or maintaining process engineering tool would be an added advantage.

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders including various representatives from Shell Manufacturing, P&T, third-party customers, etc.
