JOB TITLE: DevOps Engineer
SALARY: £46000 - £51000
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds and Halifax
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

Want to develop the next generation of Automated Cyber Defence Systems for the Group? We have investment to expand so join our growing team as part of the Security Data Services lab!

This is a great opportunity that would suit a Security Data Services Engineer or an experienced software developer that is looking to transition into Cyber Security.

You'll work with a broader team of security experts to design and implement solutions that combat cyber security threats by monitoring IT systems for suspicious activity or threats using data collected from a variety of cyber defence tools to triage and analyse Tier 1 security alerts and respond to internal and external Cyber Threats.

Key Accountabilities;

  • Provisioning cloud infrastructure via CI/CD Pipelines.  

  • Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes

  • Performing testing of code to ensure functionality is correct - own code but also peer reviewing. 

  • Maintaining and supporting IT systems (patching, bug fixing, etc.)

  • Improving the performance of existing deployments (Reducing technical debt).

  • Keeping detailed records of development processes (both within code but also general documentation). 

  • Managing Code deployment through RTL environment.

What you’ll need

  • Expected to have a broad understanding across DevOps related domains and technologies such as CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Drone

  • Knowledge across multiple cloud environments with notable experience with GCP

  • Security background/knowledge is preferable. 

  • Good knowledge of Python. 

  • Working knowledge of Databases & SQL

  • Networking experience (Understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, DNS, VPNs, protocols).

  • Troubleshooting skills (Feeds, Apps, Platform issues, Network issues).

  • Good verbal skills i.e. being able to describe a technical concept to a non technical audience. 

  • Holistic & persistent problem solver. 

  • Self Starter with the ability to work independently, progressing multiple pieces of development at any one time.
