We’re looking for a Mechanical Team Lead in Lomondgate.

What you’ll do:

  • Supervision of workshop Engineers and Assistant(s)

  • Daily planning and co-ordination of all workshop activity

  • Control and supervision of planned maintenance of fleet/plant at Service & Repair to comply with the standards stated in the service manual, bulletins and service topics

  • Oversee sourcing and allocation of plant to meet contract requirements, including control, release and return of plant as well as off-hire inspections and the processing of chargeable extras

  • Ensure all plant tooling, lifting and measuring equipment is maintained, calibrated and inspected according to the appropriate procedures

  • Ensure repair of equipment is actioned promptly in order to maintain maximum availability in a cost-effective manner

  • Promotion and monitoring of health and safety activities

  • Technical support to Engineers, workshop staff and customers

  • Assisting with interviewing of job applicants and annual conducting performance and development reviews of current team members 

  • Lead, motivate, develop and inspire team members to be their best

  • Conducting regular team briefings and ensuring effective internal communications

  • Maintaining team productivity, quality of work, standards of conduct, time keeping and high levels of attendance

  • Ensuring safety clothing and equipment is used at all times and that all safety procedures and practices are adhered to and that the highest standards of housekeeping are maintained

  • Control of calibration system for measuring and test equipment

  • Take a sleeves rolled-up approach to carrying out mechanical maintenance and repair work

  • Any other duties commensurate with the role as reasonably requested by your line manager  

You’ll have the following skills and experience:

  • Time-served Mechanical apprenticeship

  • Alternatively, a City & Guilds/ONC or equivalent in mechanical

  • If not qualified to above standard, person must still have a good grounding in mechanical engineering and be willing to undertake training to attain this qualification

  • Supervisory management qualifications would be beneficial, e.g. ILM

  • Technical capability (Diesel/Gas engine overhaul experience)

  • Parts requirement / identifying and ordering

  • Good organisational and communication skills

  • Good level of PC literacy including basic MS Office applications

  • Excellent Customer Service skills

  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise own workload, and to supervise work of others to ensure deadlines are met. Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and priorities, and to lead change within team

  • Committed to maintaining standards in accordance with 5S

  • Must hold a full, clean and valid driving licence
