Your Impact on this Role

Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, this pivotal role is part of a multi-functional team based in Scotland, dedicated to delivering sustainability ambitions within the Malt Distilling operational footprint of the Scotch category.

In this role, you will spearhead the electrification of heat pumps and boilers as part of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing sustainable practices. You will handle both internal and external partners, including the local community and operational teams, ensuring no adverse impacts during project delivery.

Strong communication skills are essential for handling all stakeholder communications effectively. Working closely with site operations, Global Engineering, and business partnering functions, you will lead and support various projects to advance the sustainability agenda in Malt Distilling, including significant CAPEX projects.

This role involves providing operational expertise for the integration of new technology into existing processes, securing all necessary authorisations and permissions, and overseeing project integration, early equipment management, and change management processes.

Additionally, you will develop the operational systems, processes, and resource requirements needed to sustain projects within the production footprint post-completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop communication strategies to engage stakeholders throughout project durations.
  • Liaise with project teams, including Contractors, Quantity Surveyors, Designers, and Project Engineering teams.
  • Create User Requirement Specification and Functional Design Specification documentation for project reference.
  • Establish structured weekly meetings with appropriate governance levels.
  • Work with project teams to develop detailed timelines with critical milestones.
  • Manage internal audit schedules and ensure timely completion.
  • Lead development of operational documentation, including work instructions and risk assessments.
  • Facilitate structured meeting reviews with the Asset Care team.
  • Develop resourcing plans and support recruitment, onboarding, and training initiatives.
  • Set process parameters in conjunction with the C&I team and Technical Team.
  • Lead delivery of steerco meetings and communication materials with input from project teams.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing of site control systems.
  • Ensure all necessary permissions are obtained from regulators through engagement with support teams.
  • Lead operational commissioning support to ensure successful site handover from construction to operational state.
  • Lead operational Management of Change process.
  • Lead post-completion review (PCR) process.

About you

To thrive in this role, you should already possess qualifications in engineering. Operational management experience of distilling processes or equivalent in FMCG is advantageous. Proven track record of leading and delivering projects within a functional team. Excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as your ability to take the lead and drive continuous improvements. Full Clean Driving Licence is a requirement due to the travel responsibilities associated with this role.
