JOB TITLE: Head of Sanctions - Economic Crime Prevention

SALARY: £130,671 - £169,103

LOCATION(S): London, Leeds, Halifax, Birmingham, Edinburgh,

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least

two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

Are you interested in preventing economic crime and have a passion for data and intelligence led risk management? If so, then this is an excellent opportunity for you to lead a team of Economic Crime Prevention (ECP) risk specialists focusing on the end to end Sanctions risks across the Group!

No day in Economic Crime Prevention is the same. We are part of the Risk Division, operating as the ECP second line of defence and engaged across the Group to advise on ways to improve how we keep our customers, our colleagues and the bank safe. This means we work closely as a collaborative team and spend a lot of our time looking at different areas of the Bank and analysing data, controls and processes to help our teams and businesses. You’ll represent LBG at a Group level being the go to person for all things Sanctions related and also work collaboratively across the Economic Crime sector to share insights, best practices and drive more effective ways of preventing, detecting, and mitigating Sanctions & Sanction Evasion.

Day to day, you will :

  • Being the Group’s focal point on the end to end Sanctions and Sanctions Evasion risk;
  • Leading the formulation, delivery and maintenance of the Sanctions elements of the Group Economic Crime Prevention Policy and associated standards;
  • Acting as a trusted partner to senior colleagues across all 3LOD, providing insightful and pragmatic advice, and constructive challenge to the business;
  • Representing the Group, and the Group Director of ECP by working collaboratively with a variety of external partners to drive more effective ways of preventing, detecting, and mitigating Sanctions risk;
  • Having an extensive understanding of the Groups Sanction Risk profile down to the level of individual business unit and internal / external service providers that underpin screening controls
  • Providing strategic direction and leadership in the area of Sanction by have an excellent understanding of the current sanctions threat environment.
  • Providing robust oversight and challenge to the business, ensuring that ECP Sanctions Risks are fully understood, mitigated and managed.
  • Representing the Group at Sanctions related industry fora providing expert advice and insight to ensure that the Groups strategic aims are supported in the direction of travel.
  • Leading teams, coaching, and nurturing talent;

What you’ll need:

  • Proven leadership qualities and experience in building and inspiring a diverse, engaged and capable Sanctions risk team.
  • A solid understanding of what an effective Sanctions risk management framework looks like and how it should operate;
  • A strong technical background in relation to the legal and regulatory obligations for managing the risks associated with Sanctions and Sanctions evasion;
  • A deep understanding of Sanctions screening tools
  • Be able to translate often complex regulatory requirements into practical, risk-based guidance in a commercially sensitive way;
  • Be comfortable in challenging the business to support the enhancement of their sanctions risk control environment;
