The Paediatric Complex Care team is expanding due to an increase in children being referred to the service. The Complex Care Team support children and their families across NHS Highland in the home environment and wider community.
This is a very rewarding post to enable these children/families to be able to access education, allow parents to have a restful sleep overnight knowing their child is being cared for to a high standard. The post holder will be joining a team to support the children within the service. The post holder will accompany the child and/or family during school/nursery, hospital appointments/admissions, outings and respite etc during their shift.
Experience of working with Children and/or community care experience is essential to this role.
Training and support will be provided to achieve various tasks and skills with assessed competency. Training takes approximately 8 weeks. Following training and assessment, competencies are achieved the post holder will then lone work with the child/family with direct responsibility for the child’s healthcare needs. The post holder will work within a set of guidelines and protocols and under the remit of devised competency structures with support and assessment from the team leader.
This post holder is expected to be flexible and work a variety of day, evening, weekend and night shifts does include shifts and is a 24/7 service. Full & part-time hours will be considered, permanent and fixed term contracts until August 2025 are available.
Children at present live within various locations throughout NHS Highland and travel is an essential part of the role. Travel expenses will be reimbursed and accommodation provided for stays.
Access and use of own car is essential.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
