Job Purpose: You will be the primary point of contact within the Council for all matters relating to built heritage.

You will lead the provision of building conservation advice to the planning service, developers and agents on a range of proposals that impact Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas to secure the best outcomes for built heritage in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and guidance.

You will lead on policy development on matters relating to building conservation, be responsible for developing and delivering conservation area reviews, appraisals and management plans and prepare responses to local and national consultations as required. You will liaise with both local and national partners and stakeholders and respond to relevant enquiries from Council services, elected Members, developers and the public.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years practical experience working in a similar role.

A degree and/or post-graduate degree in Building Conservation, Architecture or a related discipline.

Evidence of a continuing commitment to personal and professional development.

Membership of a relevant professional body, i.e. the Institute for Historic Building Conservation.

A full UK driving licence or access to transport.
