ScottishPower are seeking a Data Architect who will be responsible for delivering data projects within the workstream in line with best practice, and work in collaboration with other workstreams, team members and stakeholders to ensure successful and timely delivery. 

What you’ll be doing

As a data architect, you’ll apply data extraction, transformation and loading techniques to connect large data sets from a variety of sources. Create data collection frameworks and develop and maintain infrastructure systems, using data modelling techniques. Collect, analyse, and report management data to support decisions on day-to-day operations, strategic planning and specific business performance issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to meet business requirements,
  • Use Azure Synapse to integrate data from various sources, ensuring data quality and consistency,
  • Develop and optimise data models to support reporting and analytics,
  • Optimise performance of Power BI reports and Synapse queries,
  • Work with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions,
  • Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI and Synapse,
  • Keep up to date with latest features and best practises in data technology.

What you’ll bring
The post holder will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Data Analytics or similar relevant field. Relevant certifications in Power BI and Azure Synapse are a plus.

You’ll have strong analytical and problem solving skills, with proven experience in Power BI development and Azure Synapse Analytics and proficiency in SQL, DAX, and data modelling. Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing.

Those with experience leading a team of Business Intelligence developers or analysts and a familiarity with industry specific data and reporting requirements are desirable.
