Bairds Malt as part of Soufflet Malt 

Edinburgh/ Arbroath 

 

JOB TITLE:    Supply Chain Co-ordinator

REPORTS TO: Supply Chain Manager

DEPARTMENT:   Supply Chain

LOCATION:     Edinburgh or Arbroath

TRAVEL:     Regional and UK travel required – significant during harvest intake period.

HOURS:   Monday to Friday, 9am. to 5pm.  1-hour unpaid break.  Additional hours required during harvest intake period.

SUMMARY OF JOB:  

Execution of all supply chain movements from farm to Bairds malt site or Scotgrain customer, and then malt to customer and by-products to feed user.
Dealing with customer requests and issues and ensuring customer orders are met across all commodity groups moved within the business.
Willingness to be flexible within a wider team and over time develop capabilities across all the different supply chain categories.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure efficient and optimal cost execution of domestic barley & malt haulage, malt container exports, grain movements, bulk grain shipping, and by-product movements.
Accurate and complete recording of all paperwork required with the movement of product.
Support weekly sales scheduling and planning process to ensure co-ordination of steeping/production plan/ stock management to meet customer delivery requirements.
Assist with the execution of UK harvest activities over the intake period (Jul – Sept) into multiple internal and external intake and drying storage facilities.
Provide support and attend Customer meetings as required and ensure customer relations are professionally maintained.
Provide holiday cover for other team members and broaden and deepen capabilities across the supply chain so the team can flex across all activities and support times of peak activity in each area.

ESSENTIAL:

Good level of education and experience
Excellent IT skills
Strong time management and prioritisation skills
Numerate and commercially aware
Enthusiastic and energetic
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to plan and manage workload
Flexible outlook and willingness to develop

DESIRABLE:
Sound commercial experience (contracts, purchase, sales)
Systems knowledge
Detailed knowledge of barley storage, the harvest campaign and intake procedures and processes
Understanding of our sites and customers sites and their storage and their storage and intake capabilities and constraints
Basic understanding of malting/brewing/distilling processes
Understanding of sales scheduling and customer relationships
Good understanding of logistics and haulage and our intake facilities
Good knowledge of documentation, legal and regulatory requirements with all logistics movements
