Your Impact on this Role 

Collaborating closely with site operations, technical and business partnering functions to lead capital expenditure projects sought to advance the business goals across a vast operational landscape. This encompasses 30 distilleries and 4 maltings. 

 

You will be supporting projects across our Scotch footprint, which may include sites across the central belt of Scotland, as well as Speyside, the Highlands, and the Isle of Islay. This geographic scope may vary based on business priorities.

 

The Scotch Category encompasses the production of all Diageo's Scotch whiskies and a significant portion of gin, vodka, and rum. It holds a leading position within the spirits production industry and is crucial in ensuring a consistent supply of bottled products to markets worldwide. The responsibilities of this role extend not only to the Scotch production footprint but also encompass our co-products and bio-energy facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Applying specialist engineering knowledge to deliver single-discipline and multi-discipline CapEx projects to precise technical specifications.
  • Leading scope, budget, quality, and scheduling for CapEx projects.
  • Coordinating and leading all aspects of external contractors and suppliers.
  • Supporting operations teams in developing a long-term strategy for site assets
  • Delivering annual CapEx plans across Scotch, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with business expectations.
  • Collaborating closely with external resources/contractors and deploying appropriate resources to ensure project delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

About You

  • To thrive in this role, you should have prior experience in liquid process plant design, installation and commissioning. 
  • Possessing qualifications in Mechanical Engineering is essential .  Demonstrate a strong background in project management, with APM, Prince 2, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as your ability to take the lead and drive continuous improvements. If you don't already have it, a willingness to work towards a NEBOSH qualification is important.
  • A full clean driving license is a requirement due to the travel responsibilities associated with this role.
