Our fantastic long-standing Kitchen Manager Siobhán is moving away from Lochaber. Therefore Highland Cinema is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic new Kitchen Manager to lead our busy team and continue to develop our menu offerings, with a focus on artisan pizzas and simple, homemade, hearty food.

Our fantastic long-standing Kitchen Manager Siobhán is moving away from Lochaber. Therefore Highland Cinema is looking for a new Kitchen Manager to lead our busy team, with a focus on artisan pizzas and simple, homemade, hearty food. 

Are you an effective manager of people, with catering experience, able to develop our outstanding team, take responsibility for quality and stock control, health and safety, training, kitchen efficiency and more? Are you at a point in your career where a leadership challenge and is exactly what you are ready for? A passion for food and to continually develop our menu within the ethos of the Highland Cinema name is also a must. If so, we offer an attractive annual salary and other perks. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will be directly responsible for all kitchen functions, including: on-going menu development; staff cooking and presentation of menu items; organising staff rotas and staff training; preparing and implementing operating procedures; analysis of food costs and price levels; stock and equipment procurement; and monitoring, maintaining and keeping records of health, safety and hygiene standards. 
  • To lead, inspire and motivate our existing kitchen team within a small but busy commercial environment.
  • To work closely with the existing management team to ensure smooth running of day-to-day activities.
  • To help identify opportunities to develop the menu and overall business in new directions.
  • To make kitchen related employment decisions including recruitment, evaluation and disciplinary procedures as appropriate.
  • To take a hands-on approach to all aspects of kitchen management and day-to-day activities and requirements. 
  • To ensure compliance with all relevant industry and government health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Able to ensure that Highland Cinema is represented professionally and positively in all matters.
  • To undertake other duties as may be reasonably requested and that are commensurate within the nature and level of this post. 

Essential experience and competencies

  • The ability to work at Management level.
  • Strong leader of staff teams.
  • Articulate and a good communicator.
  • Experience of working and negotiating with suppliers.
  • Experience of working with financial budgets and reporting.
  • Minimum Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Working knowledge of equal opportunities and diversity in the workplace.
  • Willing to undertake further training where required.
