Applications are invited for 2 LAT posts within the North of Scotland Anaesthetic Training Programme.  These posts are offered at CT1 or ST4 Level, although there may be the option to appoint at CT2 or CT3 level.

The North of Scotland Anaesthetic Training Programme is delivered through Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Aberdeen and Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. 12 months previous experience in Anaesthesia in the UK is essential. The Initial Assessment of Competence and Initial Assessment of Competence in Obstetric Anaesthesia are also desirable. Candidates with more than 18 months experience in Anaesthesia may also be considered. Training needs of the successful applicant will be supported where possible, including the potential to achieve stage 1 equivalence.

The posts will commence on 5th February 2024 until 5th August 2025.

Brief Description of the programme:

Both Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Raigmore Hospital have most major surgical specialties on a single site. Maternity and Paediatric services are provided at both sites. Cardiothoracic and Neurosurgery are provided at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The Aberdeen Medical School has students on both hospital sites, allowing opportunities to become involved in student teaching. Students rotate through anaesthetics at various times in their degree programme and anaesthetic trainees are often actively involved in delivering medical education.
Aberdeen and Inverness are well served by air, rail and road and uniquely allow quick and easy access to the wild and spectacular scenery of Royal Deeside and the Highlands. Both Inverness and Aberdeen have vibrant modern city centres and are great places to live and bring up families.
