With plans to see SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the ScottishPower Group, look to invest over £5bn in transmission projects across our transmission network in central and southern Scotland by 2030, the Protection, Control and Monitoring team will play a key role in supporting SPEN to work at pace to deliver the transmission network that is required to support ambitions Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.

An Operational Support Technician (Substation Engineering) within Transmission Network Operations is vital in supporting the governance of Transmission asset data, statutory and ESQC inspection programme, maintenance programmes, regulatory reporting, DGA testing and analysis, and other key functions providing crucial support to the Transmission operations departments.

What you’ll be doing

As an Operational Support Technician, you will:

  • Support the delivery of annual Transmission maintenance plans.

  • Assist with the implementation and processing of data relating to Transmission substation Primary & Auxiliary Plant.

  • Validation of Transmission Asset Data for assets being removed or added to the system.

  • Provide support for Regulatory Reporting Packs (RRP).

  • Support the statutory and ESQC inspection programme including pressure vessels.

What you’ll bring

We are looking for individuals with working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices and awareness of network and business data and network management systems. Experience of SAP is desirable but not essential.

To be successful, as a minimum you will demonstrate:

  • Operational /on-site experience.

  • Computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Packages.

  • Flexible approach and ability to prioritise tasks.

  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
