As an Operations Coordinator for Land & Waste, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the living environment of North Lanarkshire. This dynamic role requires you to oversee waste collection and recycling programs, coordinate the upkeep of public spaces, and respond promptly to incidents and community concerns. You’ll also have the opportunity to work closely with community groups, businesses, and schools on sustainable initiatives that make a real difference.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for residents on land and waste services.
- Oversee the implementation of waste collection, recycling programs, and public space maintenance.
- Conduct site visits and respond to complaints, incidents, and service requests.
- Supervise and deploy staff effectively, including planning work, monitoring performance, and identifying training needs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and council policies.
- Maintain accurate records and produce reports for senior management.
- Collaborate with local groups to drive community sustainability initiatives.
To apply for this role, you will have extended relevant experience including experience of working with the public. You will have excellent organisational skills, be able to demonstrate problem solving abilities and possess IT skills with the ability to create and maintain accurate records and produce relevant reports. Relevant inhouse or external training would be advantageous to this role.
You will be approachable with a customer focused approach and be able to use your own initiative. Previous supervisory experience or experience of taking responsibility within a small team would be advantageous.
A current driving license and the ability to travel independently throughout North Lanarkshire is essential.
Shift Pattern: Monday – Thursday: 07:00 - 15:15, Friday: 07:00 - 14:45 (45 minute lunch break) Shifts may vary depending on operational requirements and some weekend working will be required
