ILM Highland an independent charity and social enterprise are now looking to recruit a Business Development Manager who can bring drive, passion, energy and have a sense of urgency to deliver change. Someone who can identify opportunities, and develop new services and markets, building on the existing strengths, skills and expertise within ILM.
Person Profile:
The Business Development Manager is a key member of the senior management team at ILM. Their role is to identify opportunities to develop new services and markets building on the existing strengths, skills and expertise within the company. They understand what the organisation is about, the operating and services landscape, and can identify opportunities for growth and expansion. They are passionate about what ILM does, bring drive, passion, energy and a sense of urgency to deliver change. This role works hand in hand with the CEO and Head of Operations to create art of the possible. They are a dynamic self-starter, a networker and a relationship builder. They build trust and confidence across a range of stakeholders including public sector funders and commercial partners. They have a business acumen acquired from experience working with in the commercial sector, a business, or social enterprise. Some experience of the waste recycling or public sector service delivery would be advantageous.
Post Summary:
The Business Development Manager plays an important role in the strategic growth of ILM Highland and will work closely with the Head of Operations and the Chief Executive to develop the organisation in alignment with our current strategy, helping to develop strategies, action plans and success criteria for which they will (at least in part) be accountable for.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic
Develop Action Plans to deliver the organisations strategy, vision and objectives.
Develop and maintain relationships with key Stakeholders including attending national and regional events and forums to gather intelligence.
Develop and implement a full marketing strategy with the board and monitor all KPI’s set.
Operational
Identify new business and growth opportunities and their viability for ILM.
Research and identify new opportunities (service and markets) that align with the social mission of the organisation (environmental stability, recycle and reuse and the provision of services to support vulnerable people remain in their own homes.).
Identify and secure funding for projects as required.
Preparation of regular reports to funders.
Develop effective and consistent marketing across all our services.
Maintain accurate records of all business development activities and prepare regular reports for both the Board and Management Team meetings.
Attend and minute the Communications subcommittee and update on all comms activity.
Manage the Social Media marketing and any relevant providers.
Managing the organisation website input and maintaining up to date information.
Promote a culture of staff innovation, ensuring regular monitoring of staff suggestions and effective feedback.
Engage with local community groups and look to develop effective partnership working.
Effectively manage compliance with GDPR across the organisation.

Requirements
Person Specification:
Attributes
Experience of working in a Charity / Social Enterprise setting.
Essential
Good level of education with a minimum if Higher Grade in English or equivalent.
Previous experience within a business development role.
Proven track record of income generation.
Experience of developing partnership relations with external agencies.
Extensive experience of working with Microsoft packages, including word, PowerPoint, excel and Outlook.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
Hold a qualification in a business-related subject.
Some experience of delivering communications for an organisation, i.e. website management, social media or something similar.
A knowledge of working in the recycling and waste sector.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Excellent written skills and an ability to write effectively for different audiences.
Excellent verbal communication.
Skills, including designing and delivering presentations.
Excellent digital skills, with experience of using online digital tools and an ability to embrace new emerging technology.
The ability to work unsupervised but within a team and a teamwork environment.
Excellent record keeping and organisational skills.
Knowledge of confidentiality requirements, business sensitivity and the management of personal data.
Experience of writing for websites.
Experience of market analysis.
The ability to read and summarise large documents including policy and legislative documents.
Good understanding of governance and associated regulators.

Good interpersonal skills – flexibility for different audiences, tact, diplomacy, adaptability.
