We are looking to add another 3 Modern Apprentices to join the teams in the Maintenance and Power & Hydro teams.

About Us

Established since 1929, ALVANCE British Aluminium, part of the GFG Alliance, owns and operates the last remaining aluminium production plant (smelter) in the UK and a connected hydropower electricity generation station located on the slopes of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain. A combination or renewable energy sources makes this site one of the greenest metal production plants in the country

The Course

Duration - 4 years 6 Months  [6 months to apply qualification to work]

First year is spent in college. 

Start date June 2025 (college starts in August)

Gain knowledge of quality control processes and methods to ensure that engineering projects meet specified standards.

Acquire an understanding of the broader engineering industry, including its trends, advancements, and best practices.

Networking 

Build a professional network by interacting with experienced engineers, mentors, and industry professionals.

Regulatory Compliance 

Learn about relevant laws, regulations, and standards governing the engineering profession.

Adaptability and Innovation 

Cultivate a mindset for innovation and continuous improvement.

Hours of work

39 Hours Mon - Fri

Requirements
  • National 5 in Maths, English and 1 related subject
  • Be aged 16 or over – there is no upper age limit. In some roles, you need to be over 18 for health and safety reasons.
  • Be a Scottish resident.
  • Have the right to live and work in Scotland.
