As Build Engineer, you will be leading the build and commissioning of an XGS-PON network constructed using the latest network cabinets and transmission equipment. Coaching and supporting the build partner to ensure any blockers to the plan are highlighted and escalated.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the network deployment in line with the timelines committed to within the overall project plan
- Work directly with our Turnkey partners to ensure the network is built in line with our network engineering guidelines
- Be the initial point of contact for any project-specific questions on quality or technical standards from the contractor teams
- Ensure that all sites meet both health and safety guidelines as well as the standards defined within the project contract
- Participate in regular reviews with the Turnkey partners identifying opportunities for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of network delivery
- Update daily / weekly reports and review against the project delivery milestones, highlighting any risks to the Build Manager
- Ensure all post installation/as built documents are completed and checked in accordance with the conditions of the project and client requirements
- Ensure principal contractors have site specific method statements and risk assessments in place
- Liaise with the public, dealing with any issues that the network construction activities may have caused
- Consult with the highways Dept, Local Authority and other utility companies to coordinate works
Requirements
To succeed in this role you will be an experienced engineer with a quality focus and demonstrable experience of the importance of right first-time culture:
- Experience of building fibre optic networks, working with fibre optics cables and PON network components
- Understanding of method statements and risk assessments
- Experience of managing contracted engineering works
- Belief in the benefits of collaborative working and problem solving
- Good understanding of TCP/IP, home routers and wireless technologies
- Organised and methodical
- Ability to drive and challenge performance
- Full Driving Licence
