We are seeking a dynamic, engaging and dedicated professional for an exciting new post within the contracts and conveyancing team in Legal and Democratic Services.
You will be part of a successful and motivated team working in a fast-paced environment and will mainly provide advice and support relating to conveyancing and property work. There will also be a requirement to assist with contracts and procurement work.
You must hold a current Practising Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland, an LL.B and a Diploma in Legal Practice.
Whilst we are seeking a senior solicitor at GR10, we are willing to consider candidates who meet the criteria for appointment to a solicitor role, at GR9, and have the potential to develop to GR10 at a later date.
Requirements for GR9 and GR10 include:
- experience in conveyancing and property law and ability to undertake a range of diverse tasks and achieve successful outcomes;
- ability to deal with complex legal matters; prioritise a varied workload; work with minimum supervision; and carry out work to a high standard within timescales;
- awareness of legislative developments;
- research skills;
- effective interpersonal and communication, report writing, advocacy and time management skills; and
- ability to work as a team member as well as on own initiative, and to develop strong links with clients and, when appropriate, with elected members.
Additional requirements for GR10 include:
- an extended period of post qualifying experience;
- experience in drafting, negotiation and advising on contracts;
- motivation skills; and
- supervisory skills.
For an informal discussion about the role contact Lynn Mitchell, Managing Solicitor - lynn.mitchell@renfrewshire.gov.uk
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check at a level appropriate to the duties of the post. If you would like further information in relation to the Disclosure Scotland checks, please visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
