Midlothian Council is seeking to recruit a fixed term Business Officer within its Operational Support and Finance team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is willing to embrace new challenges.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Business Services Operational Support and Finance Team, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is willing to embrace new challenges. The post holder will supervise a Team who provide support to a number of Council Services. You will have responsibility for ensuring that processes and procedures are consistently applied across your area of responsibility, and that there is efficient allocation of workload to ensure that Team objectives and deadlines are met. Areas of work across the Team include financial assessment of clients for chargeable services, payments to Carers and Organisations who provide care to children, adults and various services throughout Midlothian Council.
The post will be based in Fairfield House, Dalkeith although the post-holder will also be expected to work remotely.

The Jobholder requires a minimum qualification to HNC/SVQ3 level in business studies, office management or administration or an acceptable equivalent qualification and/or extensive demonstrable experience to this level in one of the identified disciplines would be an acceptable alternative.
Experience:
Essential:
To be competent in the role the Jobholder must have good interpersonal and organisational skills as well as knowledge of various IT systems and software including Microsoft packages. She must also have previous experience of working to strict deadlines and contributing and implementing operational changes.
Desirable:
Experience of supervising and developing a team within a busy office environment providing business support.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £30,243.53 per annum.
Responsibilities
Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this PSN Disclosure check will be met by you.
