Glasgow Caledonian – the largest and leading modern university in Scotland - is a vibrant, values-led university with campuses in the heart of Glasgow and London. With a strong commitment to high-quality education and research which supports the communities we serve, we have strong partnerships with employers to ensure our students get the careers they dream of and deserve.
With a wide range of professionally accredited courses and links with over 300 industry partners, we have the highest proportion of employed graduates in highly skilled occupations (82%) compared to other Scottish modern universities - with 91% of our students in employment or further study within 15 months of graduating (HESA 2024). We are Scotland’s leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships.
Named UK Modern University of the Year in the latest Daily Mail University Guide, we have risen to become one of the top 50 universities in the UK in the highly regarded Times and Sunday Times University Guide, and the Guardian's latest guide. We are the top performing modern University in Scotland in all three of these guides.
We are the only Scottish university with EcoCampus Platinum accreditation and were ranked first in Scotland for sustainability in the most recent People and Planet league table (2024).
Glasgow Caledonian is unsurpassed by any other Scottish modern university for the level of research (72%) considered to be world-leading or internationally excellent, our health research is only surpassed by King’s College London for outstanding impact, and 100% of our communications, culture and media research is rated as having an outstanding or very considerable impact (REF2021).
Registry is a central professional service that provides support to key areas of the student journey – from Registration and Exams through to Graduation. Registry also has responsibility at institutional level for the maintenance of student systems and timetables, and ensuring compliance with Home Office requirements in relation to sponsoring our international students’ visas.
Our Registry Administrator (Student Records) will provide effective and efficient administrative support to Registry activities, in particular to student registration and student records. Working collegiately within a team, you will play a key role in processes that enable students to study and to access key systems, support and funding. You will also provide administrative support across Registry as necessary and within agreed parameters with your line manager.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, skilled and organised administrator who can plan and manage their own workload. They will enjoy helping students and staff across the university with advice and guidance and become an expert in registration and student records. They will demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word, for example using VLOOKUP function and mail merges, and have experience in working with Student Information Management Systems or similar databases. They will thrive in a busy and demanding environment that requires the ability to multi-task effectively and be comfortable working to tight deadlines, dealing with high volumes of administration whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy. They will be articulate, with strong attention to detail and be able to make good decisions and solve problems. They will be passionate about our mission as the University for the Common Good and always look for ways we can improve what we do.
If that sounds like you, please read the role profile and demonstrate how you meet each of the expected criteria in the person specification in your application.
