We’re looking for a Lead Engineer, based in Plymouth, to oversee workshop operations and support the delivery of high-quality generator servicing and repair work across the region.

What you’ll do:
- Lead depot operations, managing a team of three engineers, Coordinate with internal teams including Operations, Yard, Hire Desk, Service Administration, and Stores to ensure smooth execution of all tasks.
- Service, maintain, and repair generators up to 1,500 kVA
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults across a wide range of equipment
- Support field-based engineers with complex or escalated on-site issues
- Attend customer sites for maintenance, breakdown response, and commissioning
- Ensure all work meets health, safety, and company quality standards
- Mix of workshop and field-based responsibilities
- Analyze frequent equipment failures and propose preventive actions
- Ensure Aggreko’s QHSE standards are consistently applied across all workstreams.
- Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–16:30, with occasional weekend work, required to do on call as per the rota.
You’ll have the following skills and experience:
- City & Guilds Level 3 (electrical/mechanical) r equivalent qualification
- Strong background in generator servicing and electrical fault finding
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and support a small team
- Able to work independently and collaboratively
- Understanding of AC and DC power, 3 phase system, component
- Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 50 lbs.
- Strong organizational, planning, and team leadership skills.
- Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and resilience in a fast-paced, 24/7 service environment.
- Full UK driving licence
