Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified Senior Technical Assistant in Hair and Beauty.
The Senior Technical Assistant plays a crucial role in the organisation and smooth running of the Realistic Working Environment (RWE) to enhance the student and client experience and extend inclusion, access and retention, along with the Employability Salons and Wella Training Academy.
They will be responsible for the organisation, supervision and support for learners within the RWE teaching areas, and maintaining the salons to Industry standards – ie ordering stock and equipment, advising procedures for delivery, storage and equipment, along with PAT testing and repairs.
The post holder will be expected to have detailed knowledge of the industry and the health & safety procedures within the industry, eg COSSH control, carrying out risk assessments, PAT testing etc.
Whilst the post holder has no direct line management responsibility, the position will include an element of supervision and lead for the technical staff on campus.
Applicants must hold a minimum of SCQF level 6 qualification in Hairdressing and have a good occupational knowledge of the Hair and Beauty industries. Qualifications in Pool Plant Testing and Health and Safety would be desirable. You will have the ability to work within a team and independently and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
