This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career, with comprehensive training and shadowing experience provided. If you have an eagerness to learn, the ability to work unsupervised, a full driving license and find yourself interested in this role please apply.
We deliver safety, warmth, and comfort to homes and businesses. Every role, whether in the office or on the front line, plays a key part in this mission. Here’s how you will contribute…
- Inspecting SGN sites, both direct labour and contractor, ensuring that all Road Works are carried out in a safe manner and that sites comply with the “Safety at Road and Street Works - A Code of Practice” (Red Book).
- Ensuring compliance with the Specification of Reinstatements of Opening in Roads (SROR) of all reinstatements in both public and private areas throughout Scotland.
- Auditing reinstatements by means of non-destructive compaction tests (cleggs), visual inspections and core sampling.
- Recording all inspection results using Microsoft Excel and evidencing inspections with suitable SGN data capture Apps (FYLD, Velocity and Image Capture).
- Recording and reporting failed or dangerous sites real time to the relevant team managers, allowing them to act on and remedy any defects or unsafe sites.
What you will need
- A self-driven individual who can manage their own day to day workload, plan routes, use their own initiative and work as part of a team.
- Problem solving and influencing skills – encouraging colleagues to challenge established ways of working.
- Adopt and demonstrate SGN’s safety culture in everyday working.
- To be comfortable working roadside and on live sites.
- A willingness to learn and develop through training and shadowing.
- Full Driving License
Not sure you meet every requirement?
Research shows some people – particularly women and those from underrepresented backgrounds – may hesitate to apply unless they meet every criterion. At SGN, we value diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
If this role interests you but you’re not sure you tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you. You might be just who we’re looking for – now or in the future.
