Job Description
We are pleased to invite applications for a Supply Chain Development Officer to join our economic development and Business Gateway Aberdeen City & Shire team.
Aberdeenshire Council is looking for a candidate with experience and understanding of public sector procurement processes with good communication and networking skills to encourage the supply chain to increase their capacity to tender for public sector contracts. Experience in developing and working in public / private/third sector partnerships is desirable. The post holder will be self-motivated with demonstrable commercial aptitude and the ability to deliver results to agreed timescales in a demanding work environment. Report writing will be a key part of this role to monitor local content and work closely with the procurement, the Business Gateway team and economic development officers.
The post holder will proactively engage private and third sector businesses to support their growth opportunities through capacity building and will be expected to develop initiatives to increase their tendering capabilities. In addition, the post holder will be proactive in identifying other organisations, companies, and individuals who can add value to improved procurement performance and develop proposals to introduce them to relevant Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire businesses.
Public/private sector experience in a regulated procurement environment is desirable.
The base location for this role is Woodhill House, with travel throughout Aberdeen City & Aberdeenshire. The role is full-time, permanent, however, flexible working arrangements can be considered. The work style for this role is hybrid and client facing, as such it will involve a mix of office working, site visits throughout the region and home working. It is a material condition of employment for this post that the employee holds a current full driving licence and has a car available.
This role may require flexible, evening and weekend working on occasion.
