<p>Pupil Support Worker - fixed term until 26/06/2026<br />Kaimes School<br /><br />Salary: £25,322 - £27,727 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)<br />Hours: 27.5 per week, 39 week sessional <br /><br />Working hours for the position are Monday to Thursday 08:40 - 15:30 and Friday 08:40 - 12:05</p><p>An exciting opportunity has arisen at Kaimes School, for an enthusiastic Pupil Support Worker to join our team on a fixed term basis until 26th June 2026. The successful candidate will be someone who is nurturing in their approach and is capable of building positive relationships with our pupils, parents and staff. This role offers the opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional support needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially. The ideal candidate would have experience of working with individuals with autism or any other complex needs. Experience of working in a school/education setting would be desirable. A knowledge of autism would be advantageous.</p><p>Kaimes School is a non-denominational special school situated in the South of Edinburgh. The school provides education for primary and secondary-aged learners with complex long-term additional support needs where the presumption of mainstream cannot be met. The needs of learners are primarily associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The school currently has 16 classes from P6 to S6. The maximum pupil:teacher ratio is 6:1, the staffing model reflecting the support required to ensure that learners' needs are met.</p><p>The school is divided into two buildings on the same site. The school also a range of specially equipped classrooms to support learners' sensory and regulation needs. The school is situated close to local primary schools and Gracemount High School, facilitating joint working and opportunities for inclusion and integration where appropriate.</p><p>A key strength of Kaimes School is our multi-agency approach to supporting our learners, and school staff work closely with Educational Psychologists, the Additional Support for Learning Service, CAMHS Learning Disability Team, Allied Health Professionals and third-sector partners in order to meet the needs of our learners. We also have an active Parent Council who support us with our work.</p><p>We pride ourselves on our positive and inclusive ethos and are committed to enabling learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorder to thrive, by raising attainment and promoting achievement through the development of the curriculum and partnership working to meet a wide range of learning needs. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check.
