  • Listening to and discussing young people’s views, interests, hopes and concerns
  • Developing activity programmes with young people in line with health and wellbeing themes
  • Encouraging and supporting young people to take part in positive activities

Requirements

Youth Work is about working with young people where they are at in life, it is based on voluntary engagement with young people.  Relationships and a safe, nurturing environment are key to youth work.  If you are passionate about celebrating equality and diversity, providing learning and development opportunities and are empathetic to challenges and barriers faced by young people then this may be the role for you.

CLD Youth Services deliver youth clubs and projects for young people from age 7 to age 25.

The role will require evening work, Monday – Saturday during term time.  Most of our youth club sessions run for 2 hours per session.

There are a variety of positions within our community-based youth work clubs and projects across West Lothian.  We are recruiting for several contracted positions which are 2.5 hours each, however we would encourage applications from people looking to take on multiple contracts.

The definitive list of vacancies is subject to change but we are looking for staff who are able to work in the East of West Lothian (Broxburn / Uphall and more rural communities) as well as more Central and West Areas (Blackburn, West Calder, Armadale)  We would appreciate if you could indicate in your personal statement where you would be interested in.

The successful candidates will be dynamic, enthusiastic, energetic and be flexible in their approach to suit the needs of young people and our service.  We would welcome applications from people who have particular skills including arts, music, drama or sports.

Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating youth work programmes in partnership with young people is essential.

Candidates must have relevant youth work skills, knowledge and experience.

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007.
