Job Description
Newbattle High school is a comprehensive, non-denominational high school with a current roll of 1300 pupils. We have eight associated primary schools – Easthouses, Lawfield, Mayfield, Gorebridge, Stobhill, Gore Glen, Newtongrange and Moorfoot, with whom we have excellent working relationships and well-established transition links. At Newbattle we pride ourselves on our values, which are: Achieve, Include, Motivate and Respect. We are fortunate to occupy a lovely community campus, built in 2018.
KNOWLEDGE
Essential
Evidence of competency in literacy and numeracy skills such as a minimum of three standard grades level 3 passes or above to include Mathematics and English or equivalent. SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative.
Some practical experience or demonstration of competency in the use of word processing and standard PC software packages.
Demonstrable competency in keyboard and clerical skills; SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative.
Experience in a similar office environment, with a working knowledge of modern office equipment would be desirable.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 36 hours over 39 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £23,213.27 per annum.
Responsibilities
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.

Please note that Disclosure Scotland has changed the way PVG certificates are issued. You will be notified by email from Disclosure Scotland that your certificate is available to view. If you do not grant access to Midlothian Council to view before access is removed, a further application will need to be generated, and this will incur an additional cost.
