Inspiring young musicians across South Lanarkshire

Instrumental Music Instructor – all disciplines (including bagpipes/pipe drumming)

Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of young musicians? South Lanarkshire Council’s Instrumental Music Service is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Instructors to join our temporary supply instructor database.

You’ll deliver high-quality group tuition across our schools, supporting pupils through the curriculum and SQA/external exams, and helping to lead exciting ensemble and performance opportunities across the authority.

We are looking for instructors in ALL instrumental disciplines who are:


  • Qualified with a degree in a recognised music course

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Passionate about music education and motivating young people

  • Experienced in teaching their specialist discipline

Hours and working patterns are in line with SNCT provisions. This post requires PVG Scheme membership under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

Teacher Salary

In line with the Teachers’ Conditions of Service, your salary for the remainder of this school salary year, which runs in conjunction with the academic session, may be recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue pay.

Overseas Criminal Records Check

An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required where applicants born outside the UK (Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of three months in the past 10 years.

Applicants are responsible for providing evidence of the Overseas Criminal Record Check. The check must be translated into English and should come from the police, judicial authority, government department or home embassy of the country or countries concerned. The check must include an official statement confirming that the applicant does not have any history of or pending criminal record proceedings. Checks may be carried out to authenticate the documents provided.
