JOB DESCRIPTION
Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is seeking a chartered surveyor who is interested in joining our organisation as a Valuer, developing a career in rating and helping us build upon our successes in delivering on the Assessor’s statutory functions.
We aim to support our people in reaching their full potential, and taking on the position of Valuer with AVJB could be an exciting step in your career and open opportunities for further progression as you develop your surveying and valuation skills.
There have been significant changes in the rating system in recent years and we strive to build a stable and sustainable staffing structure with clear routes for progression, together with robust operational processes. You will be encouraged to put forward your views and ideas, as part of AVJB’s collaborative working environment.
You will be allocated an extremely varied workload, being responsible for the survey and valuation of all relevant lands and heritages for the purposes of the Lands Valuation Acts and the Local Government Finance Act 1992.
You will also be responsible for the discussion and negotiation of appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, preparing cases for presentation to the First-Tier Tribunal and appearing as an expert witness at such hearings.
We very much recognise the importance of maintaining a positive workplace culture, so if you have a naturally positive, professional, and responsible attitude, coupled with the requisite skills, we would like to hear from you.
AVJB offers outstanding terms and conditions, such as flexible working, generous annual leave entitlement and enrolment into an enviable local authority pension scheme. We operate a “blended” model of office & home working, and we are happy to discuss any particular needs of the successful candidate.
For an informal discussion, please contact Magnus Voy (Assessor & ERO) – Tel: 01292 612513 Email: magnus.voy@ayrshire-vjb.gov.uk or Gillian Anderson (Head of Valuation Services & Assistant ERO) – Tel: 01292 616125 Email: gillian.anderson@ayrshire-vjb.gov.uk.
