The role
As NESO Policy Manager, you will play a vital part in SSEN Transmission’s mission to deliver a secure and sustainable energy future. With the National Energy System Operator (NESO) now a key stakeholder, you will ensure that our engagement is operationally robust, compliant, and aligned to strategic priorities. This role places you at the centre of policy implementation, licence compliance, and cross-functional coordination, giving you the opportunity to influence the future of GB’s energy networks. If you enjoy shaping policy, building strong relationships, and driving high quality delivery, this is a role where you can make a real impact.
You will
- Develop and coordinate policy positions and advocacy plans, working within established strategic frameworks to support organisational objectives.
- Lead key reports and assessments to ensure operational activities meet business and regulatory requirements, making decisions that strengthen compliance and performance. Deliver operational targets, support process improvements, and contribute to key performance indicators.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners, facilitating collaboration and information sharing.
- Guide and coordinate cross-functional groups on policy issues, fostering teamwork and driving progress on shared goals.
- Oversee operational risks related to policy activities, ensuring robust review processes and effective risk mitigation.
You have
- A strong understanding of GB energy networks, energy security and resilience and the regulatory landscape.
- Experience in developing policy positions and working with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- The confidence and interpersonal skills to influence outcomes without direct line management responsibility.
- A collaborative mindset, bringing initiative, curiosity, and fresh thinking to complex challenges.
