Are you a qualified senior health & safety practitioner with experience in a wide range of health and safety matters? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.
You will play a key part in shaping and delivering our health & safety management framework.
Your work will help ensure the Council meets its statutory obligations under Health & Safety legislation, while supporting management and staff to ensure safe and healthy working environments across a wide range of service areas.
This is a high-profile position providing expert advice across all Council services and an essential role in creating a pro-active and generative health and safety culture throughout the organisation.
The jobholder will have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent with evidence of wider professional learning in areas including fire safety and/or management of specific health and safety hazards.
The jobholder must hold membership of the Chartered Institute of Safety & Health, along with extensive experience of working in a health & safety advisory environment.
You will be confident in the use of Microsoft applications and capable of managing and administering health & safety software systems. Experience in the use of the SPHERA Safety Management system will be an advantage but not essential.
Midlothian Council is a semi-rural authority located immediately south of the City of Edinburgh and is the fastest growing Local Authority in Scotland.
The role will be delivered on a hybrid working model giving the successful applicant the opportunity to combine working from home, in the field and in the office.
Applications may also be considered from those at the level of Risk Health & Safety Advisor and in that instance the salary point for the successful applicant will be adjusted as appropriate
If you would like to find out more about this role before applying, you can contact David Robertson, Team Manager, for an informal chat at david.robertson@midlothian.gov.uk
A minimum of NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is expected from this post-holder although evidence of wider professional learning in areas including Fire Safety and management of specific health and safety risks are expected.
