Required for our hatchery at Loch Langabhat, to contribute to the careful rearing of salmon from egg through the fry, parr and smolt stages, prior to the transfer to sea. This varied and highly interesting role includes daily fish husbandry duties, environmental monitoring, health checks and size grading as the juvenile salmon develop.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and dedicated individual with a keen attention to detail. They will be comfortable working in a sometimes challenging outdoor environment, able to operate well as part of a small focused team and work flexibly to meet the demands of the job. Previous freshwater aquaculture experience would be desirable. Strong technical aptitude or a scientific interest and knowledge would also be beneficial.
FRESHWATER OPERATIVE – WEEKEND COVER
8 hours per week Sat/Sun - £8.25 per hour
We are also recruiting for weekend staff for the Langabhat hatchery. Duties will include assisting with all operations of the hatchery including fish husbandry duties, environmental monitoring, health checks and size grading. Applicants must have good practical and problem solving skills and ideally have some aquaculture experience.
Hours are 8 per week, 4 hours Saturday and 4 hours Sunday, with the possibility of extra hours during busy periods.
