Relief Assistant Social Care Co-ordinator

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis
£11.77 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our small office team based in Kirkwall. As a relief ASCC you will play a vital role in the provision of Care at Home services on Orkney Mainland and throughout the Isles. You will support our small geographically based teams to ensure the delivery of a high quality Care at Home service to people who use our services. You will work with individual service users, partner agencies and families to develop person-centred support packages that will ensure that the individual's personal care and domestic support requirements are fully met, with goals clearly identified, in line with the re-ablement ethos. You will have active participation in quality control systems such as observing staff practice, reviewing of care packages, and auditing of files. Alongside the SCCs the ASCCs play an important role in the induction of new staff and are actively involved in the delivery of relevant in-house training.

In order to fulfil the duties required of this role you will be competent in:

• Implementation and ongoing co-ordination of high quality support packages
• Keeping up to date with current best practice and legislation
• Proven organisation and communication Skills
• Adapting and working flexibly in a constantly pressured environment

Successful applicants will hold an SVQ3 Social Services and Health Care, HNC Social Care or other relevant health professional qualification. You should also hold a supervisory or management qualification at SCQF level 7. Where this is not held at appointment you will be required to gain it within 3 years of taking up the post.
