Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for this permanent post in the psychology department to provide a specialist psychology service to our adult population (aged 18-65), living in the Moray area. The postholder will hold a HCPC recognised post-grad qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, hold (or be eligible for) HCPC Registration, and ideally have experience in multi-disciplinary working, provision of supervision and direct clinical work. However, applicants with limited experience may be offered an initial appointment at Band 7 for an agreed preceptorship period prior to advancement to Band 8A, subject to agreed attainments, such as satisfactory performance and supervisory training. We therefore welcome experienced but also newly qualified applicants to apply.

The post holder will deliver services as part of a multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team, alongside a senior psychologist, to provide a specialist psychology service to a defined catchment population within the Moray Health & Social Care IJB. Though based in Elgin, psychologists may deliver out-patient clinics in nearby primary care settings in Moray. Referrals are received from CMHT colleagues and GPs of clients who present with a broad range of mental health problems. As part of the CMHT you will actively participate in referral and team meetings. Service delivery will include specialist psychological assessment, the provision of therapeutic intervention, consultancy and supervision, as well as teaching and training where appropriate. The supervision of trainee clinical psychologists (and/or MSc Trainees) is a key component of service delivery as we regularly offer 6 month placements to trainees on the University of Edinburgh/NHS Scotland Clinical Psychology Training Programme, as well as a 12 month placement to MSc trainees in Psychological Therapies in Primary Care. The role will also include the utilisation of research skills for audit and service development.

The person appointed will have the opportunity to join a friendly and supportive psychology team. Our current staff complement comprises of 4 wte Clinical and Counselling Psychology posts. Staff within our service have a range of clinical interests reflecting a variety of theoretical and therapeutic orientations, and we would welcome evidence based yet innovative approaches to further develop the service.
