We are seeking to appoint an experienced Blood Science Biomedical Scientist to cover Maternity Leave within this busy multi-disciplinary Laboratory for six months in the first instance, although there may be the possibility of an extension.
The Laboratory provides on-site Clinical Biochemistry, Blood Transfusion, Haematology and Microbiology services for Lorn & Islands Hospital and a widespread Primary Care population.
We are looking for a qualified Biomedical Scientist to join the current team. The successful candidate should be highly motivated with good communication skills and willing to work flexibly with the other team members. You will be expected to work primarily within the Haematology / Blood Transfusion department, but may also be asked to work within Biochemistry if suitably experienced.
You must be an HPC registered Biomedical Scientist, with proven post registration experience ideally with the BBTS Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science. Once deemed competent in the relevant disciplines, you will also be expected to participate in the multi-disciplinary on-call rota.
Lorn & Islands Hospital is a modern, well equipped, 60 bedded hospital. Situated in Oban, the Gateway to the Isles with ferry links to the islands of Mull, Tiree, Coll and Colonsay. The main centres of Glasgow, Stirling and Inverness are all within easy reach. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty with plenty of leisure opportunities and a friendly, welcoming community.
