About the Role
In the mail centre you will cover various indoor roles in a warehouse environment. You could be unloading mail from vans, moving it around in trolleys, sorting parcels and letters manually or operating machinery. It is a fast paced environment and you’ll be working to efficient methods in order to meet our business performance targets. A mail centre can process over a million items in a shift and you’ll be a valuable part of making that happen. As a Mail Centre postwoman or postman you will need to be flexible and adaptable, changing from one role to another to move the work quickly along the processing chain.
Upbeat and self-motivated, you’ll be as happy working alone as you will be working as part of a team and getting to know the different people on your round. You’ll have a strong sense of community and the idea of doing a job that involves flexible shift patterns will appeal. We deliver mail come rain or shine, so we’re looking for people who like being outdoors whatever the weather, and because there is walking involved in every round, you’ll also be someone who likes the idea of doing a job that will help you keep fit. Some experience in a customer facing role would be ideal and for roles with driving, a full driving licence with no more than six penalty points is essential.

Pay and Benefits
You will be paid weekly, increments at 6 months and 12 months are subject to satisfactory performance.
Starting Salary Age 16 £6.34 Age 17 £7.40 + 6 months +12 months Age 18 £9.51 £10.09 £10.57 We also offer a weekly Processing Functional Supplement of £9.30 (pro-rata) plus overtime and shift allowance if applicable.
Hours of work: We are looking to offer Permanent contracts Part time, 20 hours per week (attendance pattern eg. Monday to Saturday 2.50am to 6.50am)
