Western Isles Hospital, Macaulay Road, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, HS1 2AF Paediatrics Department Locum Consultant in Paediatrics Duration: 6-12 months Pay scale consistent with Consultant Salary Scale in Scotland 2016-2017 from £77,529 – £104,525 (dependent upon experience) Plus £975 Distant Islands Allowance Plus high quality accommodation (with wifi) available at no additional charge The Locum Consultant Paediatrician will provide a comprehensive hospital and community based service in conjunction with GP COD colleagues, to the children of the Western Isles and provide medical care to newborns. The post holder will help to organise and provide training to the GPs taking part in the Children's on call team and to midwives, nurses and AHPs involved in the care of children. Participation in postgraduate and other CPD activity and audit is also required. The post holder will lead development of and participate in clinical and other service audits with the aim of ensuring a high standard of patient care linked to the implementation of the Scottish Patient Safety Programme. The post holder will assist in and provide clinical input to the audit of clinical delivery, activity and performance and contribute, as appropriate, to regional and national developments, reflecting experience within NHS Western Isles. The post holder will be attached for two weeks per year to the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. This arrangement will be flexible and can be altered if necessary due to clinical or service development need. The post holder will work a 1:3 rota, from home, but able to be called into the Western Isles Hospital and must be resident within 10 miles of the hospital during the on call periods.
